The Buenos Aires Underground Market is organized every four months by the local English speaking newspaper The Argentina Independent. Many Argentines and expats (people from other countries who live in Buenos Aires) sell home-made food and drink. They are not always chefs, but often people who like to cook. It is a new kind of community market, not a farmer's market or a food festival. The last underground market was held in a place called IMPA. This is a former factory which is now a cultural center that also offers workshops, such as photography, dancing and painting.
Thousands of tourists, locals and expats go to the market to try different food and drink from Argentina and other countries. They sell things like home-made jam from Spain, sausages from Germany or home-brewed heer from Pataconia. The customers do not buv the nroducts with monev.
