Abstract
This study examined the factors that motivated parents to choose the mode of transportation for their children to travel to school. The study found that the majority of parents preferred private vehicles to send their children to school [...]. Security problems caused parents to be less interested in the campaign for sustainable transport. Despite the fact that the majority of parents were aware of the dangers of motor vehicles towards the environment and the positive effects of encouraging their children to walk and cycle to school, safety and security issues discouraged parents to support the use of sustainable transportation. The results of this study gave the true picture of urban lifestyles in terms of school transportation.
