Abstract The overall aim of this work is to discuss and evaluate through a literature review studies addressing Acupuncture and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD is one of the most common neurological and developmental disorders in children Acupuncture on the other hand is a form of traditional Chinese medicine involving the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to promote health and wellbeing Thus the general objective of this work is to assess through a literature review the potential efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of individuals diagnosed with ADHD As for the specific objectives they include analyzing the evolution and scientific production on the proposed topics and presenting a perspective of science through the analysis of databases In this context the following research question arises Which studies address Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD in conjunction with acupuncture The research is characterized as exploratory descriptive with a qualitative approach For this purpose national and international scientific journal databases published on PubMed and the VOSviewer software were used for a keyword analysis This literature review followed the structured model by Snyder 2019 organized in stages Among the results 27802 studies addressing the search terms individually were found from which 25 articles were extracted that presented theoretical relationships between the studied topics within the specified research period set between 2018 and 2023 Finally the study provides discussions and results related to theoretical and methodological development as well as specific insights for future research on this topic Keywords Acupuncture Literature review Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder VOSviewer
