The review the committee carried out as follows: Although the intention was to minimise risk of overdose risks the consequences of the Committee’s recommendations and the guidance provided does not adequately address situations where overdose risk could occur. Therefore, a recommendation has been made to allow the sale of up to 30 tablets per pack of paracetamol or aspirin each, with a total number of tablets from multiple packs not exceeding 60 tablets per transaction. However, pharmacists must beware of potential behind-the-counter risks. The Committee is due to revisit the decision subject to follow-up review.
